Game Objective

Playing Ultimate Tour Golf couldn't be simpler.  Use either the keyboard or the mouse to select your club, select your shot type, aim and then swing- just like in the real world! The basis of the swing control system is a three-click power bar that controls how hard, and how accurately you strike the ball - master the timing required here and you're well on your way to becoming an Ultimate Tour Golf Pro! The scoring is based on a series of standard, one to four player game types; Stroke Play, Match Play and Stableford Plus and standard golf rules are adhered to with penalty strokes for going out of bounds or into water hazards.  To keep the game flowing, a timer - set in the game options - ticks down for each shot; fail to play your stroke within the time frame and you'll suffer a penalty stroke.

UTour Play Modes

Head-To-Head

Challenge your opponent to a Head-To-Head match by selecting them from the list of players in the lobby. Use their Skill Rating and ping time to arrange the most enjoyable game. Keep in mind that the fastest way to grow your rating is to challenge opponents that are rated slightly higher than you (and win!).

Quick Play
Quick Play allows players to play a single-player game of UTour Golf. Tee off and get the lowest stroke total you can. Other similarly skilled opponents will play the same holes with the same settings.  You can choose a Quick Play game based on your desired level of difficulty, game mode, number of holes and course. As with all play UTour Golf play modes, in the event of a tied score at the end of the match, the winner will be the player who has achieved the highest Bonus Score.  A player’s Bonus Score is determined by a formula which emphasizes consistency:  Bonus Score is an average calculated over all holes played in the match.  The maximum Bonus Score possible is 1,000 points, broken down as follows:  500 points available for reaching Greens In Regulation, and accuracy in doing so, 250 points available for putting accuracy (if your average number of putts per hole is 1 or less, you get 250 points, if it is 3 putts or more, you get no Bonus points), 150 points available for accuracy in landing on fairways (or greens) off of first shots on par 4 and par 5 holes, and up to 100 points for average driving distance (although you need to average 400 yards per drive to get all 100 points!) The Prize Fund for each Quick Play match is paid out to the player(s) with the best score! More information about Quick Play games is available here.

Tournaments

Tournaments are similar to Quick Play games but in a Tournament you can enter multiple times for the duration of the Tournament to try to improve your score. All Tournament prize pots are guaranteed, but in “Progressive” tournaments, each new entry also adds to the size of the Prize Fund.  More information about Tournaments is available
here.

Practice

Improve on techniques learned in the tutorial. Practice also allows you to warm up before you play matches against real players.

So that's it! The golf game is very intuitive - go ahead try it out – it’s free!
Start practicing your shots right now! The best way to learn is to play. Get unlimited practice play against live opponents.

Cementing his place in history: Nicklaus wins 1986 Masters at 46

Jack Nicklaus did not need a career-defining moment when he arrived in Augusta in the spring of 1986. His waistline was a little thick, his best days of golf were behind him. He had already built a resume of brick and granite -- 17 professional major championships, two United States amateur titles, a million memories. Jack Nicklaus was royalty, even if his clubs were rusty at the age of 46, as a columnist wrote that Masters week.
